Biography

Mezzosoprano Silvia Aurea De Stefano, native of Nola (Naples), studied at the Conservatory of music Domenico Cimarosa, in Avellino, with Professors Carlo Desideri and Enrico Turco, and at the Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel (Master of arts in musikalischer Performance Klassik) with Professor Marcel Boone.

She cultivated her skills through lessons and masterclasses with notable personalities such as Cecilia Bartoli, Raul Gimenez, Jennifer Larmoore, Alessandra Rossi, Bruno De Simone, Vassellina Kasarova, Anna Sophie Von Otter, Sir Thomas Allen, Margret Honig, Mya Besselynk, Kurt Wiedmar, Yvonne Naef, Pietro Rizzo, Graham Johnson, Marilena Laurenza, Massimo Borghese(phoniatrist).

She is now student of the Soprano Susanna Branchini.

She made her debut in 2007 in the role of Alisa in “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the Atena Lucana Festival.

Since then, she performed in different theaters and festivals: as Cherubino in “Le nozze di Figaro” at the Akademie der Stadt Basel and, in 2015, at the Hamburger Kammeroper; as Despina in “Così fan tutte” at the festival Schloss Weikersheim, organised by the Jeunesses Musical Deutschland; as Orsini in “Lucrezia Borgia” and Hermia in “Midsummer night’s dream” by B.Britten at the Flanders Opera Studio; as Fatima in “L’Algerino in Italia” at the Bijloke Muziekcentrum in Gent and as Paoluccia in “La Cecchina” for the Piccolo Festival del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

She has been a guest twice at the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad where she sang Maddalena in “Viaggio a Reims” in 2014, directed by conductor Antonino Fogliani, and Zulma in “L’Italiana in Algeri”, directed by conductor Josè Miguel Sierra, as well as Sivene in “Le Cinesi” by M.Garcia in 2015.

She was a member of the Flanders Opera Studio in Gent for the Saison 2011/2012 (current International Opera Academy).

From 2013 to 2016 she was part of the stable company at the Hamburger Kammeroper in Hamburg, where she performed in roles such as Isabella in “L’Italiana in Algeri”, Cleopatra in “Giulio Cesare” by G.F. Händel, Cherubino in “Le nozze di Figaro” and Dorabella in “Così fan tutte”.

In 2016 she won the Kammeroper Rheinsberg contest with the innovative project “Mozart in 90 minutes”.

Next performances include the debut as Cherubino in le Nozze di Figaro and as Zweite Begleiterin in Cherubini’s Medea at Starnberg Opera Festival and the direction of the unknown J. Woelfl Opera “Das schoene Milchmaedchen” in BVG Bonn.
